Emigración Laboral de Curazao a Cuba a Principios del Siglo XX: Una Experencia Por Rose Mary Allen Résumé La Caraïbe a toujours été une aire de mouvements intenses et constants de personnes obligées de quitter leur pays à la recherche de meilleures conditions de vie. Les conséquences de ces mouvements n'ont pas seulement une connotation d'ordre économiqué, mais impliquent aussi des transformations culturelles. Ce texte constitue le résultat d'une étude faite dans les années 80 et au début des années 1990, sur les personnes qui émigrérent de Curaçao à Cuba au début du siècle. 40 émigrés âgés, revenus á Curaçao, ainsi que d'utres témois de l'exode ont été interrogés. Samenvatting Het Caraibisch gebied werd altijd gekarakteriseerd door een constante en intensieve beweging van mensen die, op zoek naar een beter bestaan, zich elders moesten vestigen. De consequenties hiervan waren niet alleen economisch maar ook cultureel. Het artikel onderzoekt de migratie van Curacaoenaars naar Cuba aan het begin van de twintigste eeuw. In de jaren tachtig en in het begin der jaren negentig werden 40 emigranten geinterviewd die naar Curacao waren teruggekeerd, en dit materiaal vormde de basis van dit onderzoek van de orale traditie. Resumen El Caribe siempre ha sido un área de intenso y constante movimiento de personas que se han visto en la necesidad de desplazarse en busca de una mejor vida. Las consecuencias de estos movimientos no tienen únicamente connotaciones de orden económico, sino que también implican profundas transformaciones culturales. Este trabajo es el resultado de un estudio hecho en los años 1980 y comienzos de 1990, tomando como base a curazoleños que emigraron a Cuba a principios de siglo. Fueron entrevistados 40 ancianos emigrantes que habían regresado a Curazao, así como otros que fueron testigos del éxodo.
